Senator Martin A. Sandoval Appoints New Chief of Staff

CHICAGO, IL - Illinois State Senator Martin A. Sandoval is proud to announce that Edgar Pineda has joined the Sandoval family to manage the Senator’s District Office, and assist Senator Sandoval with his mission to brepresent the men, women, and children of the 11th District in the Illinois States Senate. Mr. Pineda comes with experience in the public sector, having served for almost 10 years as the Creative Director for Latinos Progresando-where he started his career as an unpaid volunteer.

Edgar’s appointment by Senator Martin A. Sandoval as Chief of Staff (COS) reflects the Senator’s commitment to serving the Mexican and Latino community with the best and brightest the 11th legislative district has to offer. “Edgar shares a contrasting story with many of the constituents he will be serving-He is one of us,” said Senator Martin A. Sandoval.

Edgar emigrated from el Estado de México when he was 6 years old, and has since put himself through college and built an impressive résumé including several merit awards, the coveted Juan Andrade Scholarship for Young Hispanic Leaders, and a scholarship from the Institute of Mexicans Abroad and the Consulate General of México.

“I am humbled by the confidence Senator Sandoval has placed in me to be Chief of Staff,” said Edgar. “I plan to continue to uphold the COS position to the highest standard, maintain employee and constituent satisfaction, and work effortlessly to understand the needs of the people of the 11th legislative district.”

Edgar has come a long way. While undocumented, he earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Business Administration and Management from National Louis University, embarked in several entrepreneurial ventures, and after 21 years became a Legal Permanent Resident of the United States. Edgar’s entrepreneurial spirit and his commitment to service leadership allowed him to serve on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Youth Boxing Club in 2010, and as of February 8, 2017 Edgar serves on El Valor’s Associate Board.
