Your health and safety during this time is our highest priority.

The following COVID-Safe Operating Protocols apply to all guests of the Resort

The Resort will operate with enhanced health and hygiene protocols across all aspects of our business to ensure the health and safety of all guests and staff. As part of our COVID Safe plan, please note that there will be additional signage around the Resort outlining ongoing government guidelines regarding how to stop the spread; including social distancing, handwashing and sanitising. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we endeavour to minimise the disturbance to your holiday experience as we implement these requirements.

Restrictions for Guests WHO ARE NOT FULLY VACCINATED

From 5:00am 17 December 2021 QLD Government restrictions will be enforced for guests & staff who ARE NOT fully vaccinated. In line with Government advice, these restrictions currently only apply to those aged 16 and over:

1. Tangalooma Launches
The passenger boat services operating between Holt St Wharf (Brisbane) and the Resort operate as both licensed hospitality venues (with onboard cafés that cannot be segregated from the rest of the vessel), as well as a tourist experience with guided commentary for the large number of day tour passengers onboard. For this reason, only fully vaccinated people will be permitted to travel on our boats or onto our Holt St Wharf premises.

2. Accommodation, Cafés, Restaurants and Bars
Whilst unvaccinated people can stay in hotels for accommodation purposes, only fully vaccinated people will be able to access our Hospitality venues (cafés, licensed boats, restaurants and bars). Unvaccinated guests will only be permitted to enter these venues to order takeaway (where the outlet offers takeaway), but are required to wear a face mask at all times and must socially distance outside the venue whilst the order is prepared. Only fully vaccinated guests will be allowed to dine-in, or attend an event at any Resort Venue. Guests who are not fully vaccinated can still visit the Resort Convenience Store for supplies.

3. Tourism Experiences (Tours and Activities)
In addition, only fully vaccinated guests will be able to access all Tangalooma tours, boat transfers, activities. Guests who are not fully vaccinated will not have access to any tours, activities, equipment/watersports hire, wildlife encounters (such as dolphin feeding/viewing) etc. General access to the beach is available to all guests irrespective of their vaccination status.

These restrictions are in line Queensland Government Public Health Orders and the Tangalooma Island Resort Covid-Safe Plan. The policy is subject to change and we will continue to update this page as Government advice changes/clarifications are applied to the Resort operations. If you have an existing booking that is impacted by these QLD State Government travel restrictions, please use this form to submit your enquiry or change-of-date request online well before travel. The QLD Government has given considerable notice to all travellers regarding these restrictions, and as such, all existing cancellation/change policies on your original booking will apply. Guests are encouraged to get in touch as soon as possible to avoid any cancellation/change penalties.

What Proof of Vaccination is required from 17 December 2021?
The preferred way for fully vaccinated guests to provide this evidence is through the Check In Qld App linked with their verified digital vaccination certificate. You must have this evidence available prior to checkin to the Resort or its boat launches.

If you cannot provide official proof of vaccination status (with matching Photo ID) when asked, you will NOT be allowed access, and you will not be eligible for refunds should you be unable to redeem any prebooked/prepaid products.

What is the Resort's definition of a 'fully vaccinated' person for the purposes of accessing Resort facilities & services?
In-line with the Queensland Government's definition of a vaccinated person:

  • A person who has has had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine recognised by the Australian Therapeutic Good Administration (TGA), and can provide official evidence of this vaccination status; OR

  • Any person who has an official medical exemption from getting a COVID-19 vaccination (as formally registered on the Australian Immunisation Register), and can provide official Government-issued evidence of this status

Who is denied access to the Resort or its Vessels?

At its full discretion, the resort can deny access to any person, and will be actively prohibiting access to any guest that meets the following criteria:

  • Any person who cannot verify their legal right to be travelling to Moreton Island, the Brisbane LGA or Queensland; or cannot
    verify why they may be exempt from quarantine/travel restrictions.
  • Any person who has COVID-19 or is showing signs or symptoms of COVID-19, cold or flu.
  • Any person who does not meet the vaccination access requirements.
  • Any person who cannot reasonably satisfy staff of their compliance on the above eligibility criteria.
  • Any person who refuses to abide by the Resort's Covid-safe policies (e.g. wearing masks as directed).

PLEASE NOTE: Please STAY HOME if you are unwell. At its full discretion, the Resort can deny access to any person, and will be actively prohibiting access to any guest that meets the above criteria.

QLD Government Face Mask Requirements

MASKS REQUIRED: Please note, in line with current QLD Government advice, masks are required across Tangalooma Island Resort's Operations including:

  • All boat transfers (at all times),
  • All tour buses and Resort vehicles,
  • All areas of the resort where social distancing isn't possible

MASKS RECOMMENDED: Anywhere else on Resort property where social distancing isn't possible. Guests can purchase additional masks at the Resort shop if required.

Check-In Process at Wharf

You must also use the Queensland Government's Check In QLD App, and check in to both the Holt Street Wharf and then again when boarding the boat.

We reserve the right to refuse travel to any guests displaying COVID-like symptoms. A full refund will be available, or travel can be postponed to a later date once medically cleared.

Contactless payment preferred

Contactless payment preferred. We encourage our customers to pay with a Tap and Go payment method where possible. We will still be accepting cash.


We are following the recommended health and safety precautions, and you will notice additional cleaning both on the launches and at the Resort. We have adopted current industry best practice to restrict contact of items between guests, and adapt handling and service protocols. Hand sanitiser stations will also be available across the Resort for our guests.

Social distancing

There will be signage around the Resort to remind guests of the ongoing need for social distancing. These measures are active across all operations, from the check-in process, queuing at outlets, guest activities and dine-in seating. Wait times may be impacted, and as such we appreciate your patience and understanding as we endeavour to minimise the disturbance of your guest experience as we adhere to government restrictions.
