ILLCF Co-Chair State Senator Martin Sandoval (D-12) and the Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus Foundation (ILLCF) made history this year. With a record participation of more than 1,500 guests over $200,000 was raised towards scholarships and policy research.
In addition with the presence of Governor Pat Quinn, Senate President John J. Cullerton, Speaker of the House Michael Madigan and other legislative leaders, the Illinois Latino Legislative Caucus Foundation surpassed all its goals during its 7th Annual ILLCF conference “La Presencia Latina”. One of the highlights of the successful conference was the award of 20 scholarships valued at $2,000 each with the support of many corporation sponsors to benefit a select group of bright college-bound students.
Panelists and community leaders addressed key Latino public policy issues of the day including education, immigration, health, human services and the economy through speeches, panel presentations, concurrent sessions, exhibits and other venues. This year's conference was held on December 3, 2009, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont, IL.
