Just in time for the holidays and continuing his efforts to improve mass transit facilities and the decaying rail infrastructure in Illinois, Senator Martin Sandoval (D-12) Chairman of the Illinois Senate Transportation Committee along with Cicero President Larry Dominick and Phil Pagano, METRA Executive Director, announced a $6.5 million reconstruction of ramps and platforms at METRA’s station in Cicero. The task is part of a $136 million state funded public works improvement plan unveiled by METRA. Starting next year, 24 stations will be remodeled during the project that will create jobs and will help build ridership on METRA, a system with more than 230 stations serving about 315,000 daily riders.
